IKRAM- Tradition of Hospitality in UAE/gulf region

Hospitality is the original habit of Arab people and especially for Arabs on the blessed land -UAE and the rest gulf region. Actually this custom is as old as Arabs exist. Hospitality gen comes with mother milk to her child so it is more stronger then anything else. Hospitality it's not only a word for Arabs but tradition that includes rights and duties in attitude to the GUEST. where HE is served for all HIS needs and braking this rules brings shame upon house owner and his tribe/family.
In the past when our ancestors had to suffer from hardship of life at that time when they hardly could find a piece of bread to feed themselves and their families, and in spite of such difficulties they didn't leave this habit. More over it was as a measure of generosity of the tribe&family and even of their manhood. Mohammad Ad-dasm wrote a poem about this:

الضيف ضيف الله و صابه حبيبه اسقبل ضيفك في تهلي و ترحيب
قدم له الميسور وماهان جيبه واحلف ورا الميسور دين المعازيب

...Hospitality, hospitality of Allah and His beloved (Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه و سلم)so receive your guest with greetings and nice words
..introduce and give him everything that in your pocket to please him
..And so Allah will please you. (my approximate interpretation)

And there is something that even not all old people know that there are certain rules for hospitality. which provides rights and obligatory for guest and house owners as well.
and in case of braking these rules both of the sides can call for their rights back. Some of these rules exist till nowadays and the other were reduced or became more certain norms of hospitality at that time.some of these norms like serving(القهوة) coffee as soon as guest enters the house. the coffee-serving have to last till the moment when guest refuse to have more. At the same time cup should not be filled till the edges as it would mean that guest is unwished in the house. Also with coffee dates are served. And its very important that every house must have coffee and it even have to be ready to be served as door in arab houses never closed and guest or guests are welcomed anytime. For this case termo-dallas became very popular nowadays, coffee can be prepared in the morning and keep its hot till the evning. Another example back in time When guest entering village of some tribe and doesn't visit the very first house as he supposed to do but passed it by so in this case this house owner could make a complaint about the impolite guest to the judge and insist to give his rights back.
One of my Iraqi friend many times told us funny stories how his family and all their neighbors several times were fighting for the guests or for somebody who needed help. Each of them wanted to have those people first to serve them with all they had have.
there are much more examples about hospitality than we have mentioned,but it will not be covered in one post. We just should remember and keep what we have heard and what we have learned from our ancestors.

LUXURY KHALEEJI HOME DECOR and a little bit of furniture MAKEOVER

Oh..before i start i must bring excuses to everyone who follow my blog and waiting for new posts. If there is someone interested why i am not so up2date blogger its just because i got really busy with new projects (al7amdulllah for everything) that terribly take my time and my mind .

LOVE YOU ALL To be honest i collected some new topics that i am going to post in here but i hardly can find myself thinking about my blog as it was before. It is my first and only blog that you re reading now and i don't have too much experience to understand do i still want blogging (i guess i do) or its just some normal life changes that bring me to another stage of living this exact life. Anyhow i still have lots of things to share and inn sha' Allah i ll do it. Just want to thanx everyone who keep on following my blog and leaving comments as i can understand that it is still brings some use what else i can dream about as being the author of this blog. well back to the topic..

I was inspired by some Khaliji serials that i follow sometimes, i am not going to tell the serials stories now but i want to show you what i like to see there. It is furniture decoration. what is khaleeji decor? for sure first thing is the bedou-style :(al-dallas, cushions, floor-seats, carpets and can be more descriptions but i mentioned the most famous attributes of the bedouin style in decor) another part of khaleeji decor includes luxury.. sounds interesting, right? luxury in what? Luxury in colors, luxury in furniture' models&shapes, luxury in textile, luxury means a lot but i believe that almost everyone can easily understand what luxury is and see is there lux or not in decor . But for more sure here is description from wiki
luxury (plural luxuries)

1. very wealthy and comfortable surroundings.
2. something desirable but expensive.
3. something very pleasant but not really needed in life.
   

i made bold the first description as it is much better match to the decor topic.

But khaleeji luxury and european do no look the same. By the way luxury cars that so ktiiiir(many) you can see in UAE are not completely the same, as ordinary Mercedes-Benz that is oriented to european market actually cant manage with the heat of the Emirates unless it is developed.
european luxury basics on the Baroque,Rococo and Renaissance (XV-XVII) styles, here some examples: but Arabian Luxury it is more modern direction that of cause has in its base beauty of arabian palaces of the richest arabian lands like was Babelon (Iraq) back in time of greate counqures and powerful kings. Also modern khaleeji luxury home designs include basics of the european designs as well. how to bring some luxury to the home design its entire science . we can buy gorgeous beds and other furniture, but sometimes enough to pay attention on details, and even how you organize them. Colors! and their combination. to look luxury use very dark-deep colors with white and other light tones. black and white, dark read and beige, white-blue-dark blue, or be in one range of color wisely choosing the right combination.this nex two pics from one of Dubai luxory hotels the first pic belong to Prince suit and the second to the king suit,mostly changes made by colors.

and if there is something wooden or stone in the home, then it should look or be in fact kind of the most expensive wood or stone. Anyhow i always tend to do something my own even my designer did a good job. its so called-personalization. by the way it is one of the key-components to the best home interior decoration :1-personalization; 2-comfort; 3-organization. There is one more way to be in the khaleeji home decor theme. I dont know how to describe it i suggest you just to watch it:
so we have such an ordinary square-table that i used for some stuff like night-lamp,fruite-vase and photo-frame. Also bottom of the tabel was a place for wire and other huge nessessary stuff that i could not move away. this table and all the rest furniture is one set that made from very heavy stone and metal (as usually). I like islamic signs (moon and stars) that are on it as decorative elements. so i didn want to change its look until it got massed. this small square table is in room with bordo and beige colors so it gave me chance to think about makeover. .. inspired by mentioned above Kuwaiti serials i took next steps:

covered with a big bordo satin cloth 4x4 and pinned in the middle to make nice wavessome sea-stons i decided can make it more interesting and night lamp is very matching

and final look: what you think? i hope you liked it..If you can draw, make paper cases, or sew then its nothing for you to make your own napkin holders or decorative cases. this idea came to me suddenly, when i was looking around my home for some nice box to put a little gift for my friend and after all unlucky trials i decided to make it (the box) by myself. i used plane paper and clue then i painted it and draw some specific arabian patterns. well me and my friend liked it. and what was nice news that she still keeps this box on her mirror-table while she could just thought it away immediately. i designed some more cases for myself or for some other gift events. (my husband was extremely delighted with this idea and even asked me to do some more cases from wood for presents for some members of our family ). and of cause these small details always will bring that theme to your home decor that you can never reach with anything else.
