Wedding Dresses in the Gulf

Khaleejia said: Women in the Gulf love their abayas, evening dresses and wedding dresses to be adorned with a lot of crystals.

Here's an article where you can read about modern weddings in the UAE. Although I don't agree with people in the article saying that nowadays expensive weddings are "traditional".

Actually there were no white wedding dresses or extravagant parties in the ballrooms in the past in the Gulf. This is a new tradition borrowed from the Western culture. Before the bride would wear a traditional green dress and a burqa...

Bellow are wedding dresses from Reem Al Hosany rental in UAE.

e-mail: reem@reemdresses.com
Renting their wedding dresses will cost 5.000 - 18.000 AED. Renting evening dresses costs 2.000 - 6.000 AED

Khaleeji Party Dresses

Khaleejia said: Here are some typical dresses khaleeji women wear when attending weddings. Some women buy evening dresses but many rent a dress for one night. Renting price varies greatly... renting a dress like on the pics below will cost 2.000 - 3.000 AED

Not all women come to weddings dressed like that. In big cities and wealthy families you will find many women in evening dresses, with hairdos and khaleeji make up. In small places and simple families majority of women will wear nice party abayas and sheilas or even just everyday black abayas. Traditional khaleeji national dress- muhawar (مخور) is also often worn for wedding parties. (See Here for mukhawar dress)

Easy Hairdo with a Hair Clip

Khaleejia says: This is an easy Hairdo with a hair clip. The last step (putting on a hair band) can be omitted. This hairdo can be worn under a scarf (sheyla) too.

Khaleeji Hair Clip

Khaleejia said: Big Hair clips are very popular amongst khaleeji women. A hair clip is "mishbak" (مشبك) or shabasa in Arabic.

There are many huge and colorful hair clips sold in the shops. Khaleeji girls prefer to use a massive hair clip as it helps to create a necessary volume under the scarf (sheyla) that is to achieve the trendy "hump" look. All you need to do is to pin your hair with a huge hair clip on top of your head and put a sheyla on afterwards ;)

There's a big choice of hair clips on the market, some of them for the price of 3 -15 AED from China. But many hair clips are made by local women at home - simple ones will cost around 20 AED and beautiful hair clips for special occasions will cost 40-110 AED

A Hilarious Emirati Cartoon- Shabiat Al Cartoon: شعبية الكرتون

Khaleejia said: "Shabiat Al Cartoon" is a very funny low budget cartoon made by Emirati youth.
This cartoon tells about life of the modern UAE nationals in an honest and funny way. It's in Arabic, but those who lived in the UAE or know Arabic culture will be able to understand a lot even if they dont know the language. At the same time some parts of the cartoon refer to very specific aspects of locals' life which is hard to understand for people outside Emirati society.

This cartoon is showed on TV during Ramadan. Last year this cartoon was more successful (i.e. was loved by locals) than the famous "Freej" cartoon which was rather boring. Hence "Freej" was stopped but Shabiat al Cartoon will be shown on TV again this Ramadan (of course all new parts :)

You can watch some parts of this cartoon on YouTube

BEAUTY OF ISLAMIC NATIONS..CHECHENYAN&INGOUSH PEOPLE

Khaleejia said:
i donno why this people (i met some during my trip that is successfully over)caught my interest but their culture is so uniq and maybe one of the least popular compared to the european or south american or even gulf countries that i dare to present in my blog. This muslim nation we firstly know from the terrible war that started in 1994 and was oficcially over in 2002 . but history of this nation goes for 6000 years back . what i understood Checenyan one of the most proud and strong people. They keep up their draditions wherever they live. Forced to immegrate to different countries they keep their national pride and togatherness with their homeland fellows, when they are asked about their nationality they prononce it with eyes full of respect and love to their land. Also i heard that it's very complecated for woman or man to marry different nationality otherwise they are in big risk to lose their parents and relatives.May be thats why some are married secretly. If you allow to decribe me their men's temper and beauty of their women i would say it's like when you see eagle hovering highly among picks of the rocks nobody can hurt him as his nobel beauty that make such a magic to those who watch it from the ground. this was my own introduction of this amazing people.

beautiful video will help you to understand better what i have wrote above.

my random fashion ideas for the summer

Khaleejia said:
summer 2009 - colors+white & black and you look fabulouse!

Before i had a flight i spent couple of hours in front of the mirror to unerstand what i can
dress over the seas. Defenatly my abayas should be taken off and hidden deeply in my wordrobe. And the same time i need to look gorgeous-stylish&glam. on my own choice i did this dress-menu where i included white jeans and black jeans that nice to mix with pink, light green, white, black or cheetah colors. but this is only 1% of the rest ideas. my own notes-its great for not too hot but windy and cloudy weather among 15-25 degree.

Photobucket

one of the most important thing to complete the look is nice fashionable shoes and accessories-belts,bags,necklaces,huge rings, bracelets and sunglasses.

black is always in ! during my travelling i descovered that my color choice was precisely same as the european dress tends for this sumer.
