Known to khaleejia’s Life readers Aghnaj designer Halima Seemba invited me for the soft opening of her new boutique “Halima Seemba” during the Ramadan. In a beautiful set up with arbaic coffee, and mini bottles of our traditional in Ramadan syrup Vimto  (ordered through Instagram) she told me about her new shop, collection & vision. 

She sais: “Many people know me from my first brand Aghnaj (arab. “Extremely beautiful” ) which I still keep for traditional collection and souvenirs. 

I decided to use my name itself as a new brand so that it would be more internationally recognized.

I am happy that my boutique “Halima Seemba Fashion” is opened now and welcome all ladies to visit it. My collection targets young ladies, mid-age and also I have pieces for mature women over 35 and between.

Regarding the style, more ladies now want to be more modern. Though many of us still like traditional clothes. In my collection I have both. As the Eid now came on summer, I used bright colors in my collection which suits the summer the most.

During every Ramadan we have gatherings when ladies used to dress same as for the evening or an event but more in the traditional style. My jalabias are all about mix of modern trends with classic traditional shapes & patterns.

The materials I use are natural with high end details end embroidery. Though some designs are simple as I know many conservative ladies prefer that way. But it still will reflect the nowadays fashion.

In Abayas I mainly focus on elegant draping. Either for the evening abaya or casual daily style. I love seeing women dressed elegant yet traditional or modest.

My concern that people really look for a special stuff, unique. My fashion is a high fashion and every piece is exclusive. I want to offer my customers that exclusivity and what they need.”

Fall / Winter 2013 ARABESQUE SHEILA AND ABAYA : The New Edge

We share a New Edge collection  Fall / Winter 2013 by one of our Haut Couture  Arabesque Abaya and Sheila brand by Judith Duriez.

A masterful mixture of ethereal and edgy looks, Arabesque Fall / Winter 2013 plays with the season’s foremost trends – soft earth colors, architectural lines and experimental layering techniques – to offer a new take on femininity. With a largely autumnal  palette where grayish blue, ash , ivory and pale lavender and burgundy are interspersed with an occasional splash of electrifying royal blue or bronze, 

Judith Duriez indulges – to great effect - her romantic side while striking an artful balance between the futuristic minimalism and the pared-down luxury that the label Arabesque stands for. Cubist and futuristic patterns and graphic shapes are softened by sheer overlays of breath-weight silk chiffons , Tulle , and fine French  laces in a medley  of texture and detail that attests to this designer’s endless wealth of ideas.

The new Fall Winter Day-wear comprises a covetable display of eminently wearable designs with an edgy attitude. The looks go back to the future combining dazzling computer generated hand embroidered designs with sleek, almost aerodynamic lines. Embellishment is kept to a minimum letting the architectural silhouettes steal the limelight.

Dressier options venture into the organic world where floral French Laces find their way on the new Signature cut abaya or, when interpreted in frills and artful corsages, nestle on the collar  and adorn the tight-fitting sleeves.  

But it is in evening category that Judith Duriez’ talent shines brightest. This time around the French designer dreams up gravity-defying silhouettes, expectedly luxurious yet surprisingly innovative. Think exquisite styles featuring swirls of air-infused chiffon, wisps of eyelash lace, lavish overlays of guipure , brocade , intricate hand embroidery work and glittering Lurex laces. 

Dominated by the ever-chic monochrome scheme, each creation comes as an epitome of glamour, elegance and sophistication with a modern edge.

Turning to the future for inspiration Judith Duriez proves yet again her endless ability to reinvent herself. With her new  Fall Winter 2013 collection she promises a season filled with otherworldly beauty, banishing nostalgia and repetition.
