MAKE your OWN BURGA3 bracelet

It was again my crazy creative mood to do some handicrafts…that  surely would be:

1. UNIQUE…

2.CREATIVE…&

3….NICEEEEE)))….yani – UCN ,yani - “U CaN”.

You may hear that burga3 or burqa is a ‘khaleeji’ women’s attribute that could almost disappear if there was not be done a great work on  renewing the old traditions by governmental programs on saving the heritage. Nowadays young girls tend to love burga3 more than  ignore it.  You can read this one private story to understand all better.

Of cause it doesn’t mean that girls wear it daily. No. But they love to have it at homes and take some cool pictures of themselves while wearing burga3 then posting them on flickr or other forums, blogs and sites or having  it for national celebrations and so on.

Also this famous mini/little burga3’s bracelets and prints on T-shirts are in  demand on the local market.

i draw my idea to measure size and shape

step 2:  found the materials: it was thick piece of chocolate’s pack (dark brown color) i think it would be better to replace it with a piece of any thick leather, e.x. from any old leather belt.

Where to Buy a Burqa

Khaleejia said:

I'm often asked on my blog where to buy a burqa in the UAE.  As you know, burqa is not a very popular accessory nowadays. Very few Emirati women still wear it.  You can't easily find burqas in the shops, because they are not in demand.  Local women usually get their burqas from other women, who make burqas at home.  If you don't know any Emiratis who could get you a burqa through their relatives or friends, then you could try one of these shops in Dubai:

http://www.burqa.ae/buy.html

In this video about traditional weddings you can see older Emirati women wearing a burqa

Nowadays a burqa is a disappearing traditional accessory.

In 2009 there was even an attempt to "revive" a burqa in a form of Burqa Shades, a project by  Fitch... You can try the BQ glasses on their website: http://www.bq.ae/en-GB/Trybq.aspx

TRUE BEAUTY OF BURQA (part2)

Khaleejia said:
Not once i heard from non-arab people that burqa makes woman's face uglier, that is completely not true. For Arabs burqa is something very gorgeous, as it was designed to imitate features of falcon that was always a symbol of Elegance,Pride and Power.

At first look many people mistakenly think that burqa made of gold or other metals. In fact, all burqas are made of linen fabrics that usualy imported from India. First the fabrics are colored to blue or violet colors then they are rubbed by a glass ball until the fabrics gets metallic luster. Burqa made of highly starchy linen which is painted with  gold color.
nowadays, burqa is not so popular as 30 years ago but still is wearing by women all over gulf region. And still respected by young generation. You still can buy hand-made, made on sewing machine burqas, price varies between 10 to 20 Emirati dirhams per each one.
Also should mention that burqa is not Islamic but cultural tradition.

BURQA IN UAE THROUGH ITS HISTORY

Khaleejia said:
Since old days Burqa is a very important peice of khaleeji folklor dress. Usualy It has black color and women wear it over their faces and it looks like mask. The purpose for wearing burqa  is to hide face and show pride and high morality of the woman who wears it. Also burqa has been worn with purpose of embellishment. Burqa also can be met in other arab counties but different in shapes and names. In UAE this cover is called burqa, naqba, baqara, maqrun and in some other Gulf countries it is called al-butulah al-khaleejia.
ItalicParents put burqas on their daughters as soon as girls reach adult. And since a girl begins to wear burqa she is not allowed to go alone outside her house.
Burqas are also differ in shapes according to who wears it woman or girl. The difference is in its features that show status ot the woman is she young, adult, married or not. Burqa partly cover woman face the top of it must cover eyebrows and lower arch covers nostrils with upper lip while central vertical string should be exactly in the middle of her nose. From age 10 - 12 girls wear straight shape burqas but accessoried with a nice tracery that is usualy worn for fests. Girls are so excited to get their first burqa that once they get it they even sleep in it. In the morning a girl can find her face whiter then usual but after she put some kurkum on her face that gives a very nice color.

Burqas were also decorated with a rope made from sheep's wool. But nowadays more and more girls wear niqab instead of burqas as niqab is islamic modest dress but the problem that a lot of girls looking forward to nice designs forgetting the main meaning of niqab. and modern woman in niqab attracts even more by rich embroideries on it and bright eyes make-up as well. But in the past women also tried to make their burqas look nicer . they used oysters rubbing in the burqas to make appearance smoother and more shining. Also women used parfume and left burqas under the sun to dry that also gave more shining and light pleasant scent.
